Dog Training and

Behavioural Modification

Train them, don’t blame them

1-2-1 Sessions

Initial Consultation

The initial consultation is a vital part of the training. Here we will have a detailed conversation relating to your dog’s needs, as well as focusing on your expectations. During the consultation we will also be observing the dog’s temperament and behaviours in order to find out what the best solution will be in each individual case. During our discussion we will establish the root cause of the problems you face, and we will then be able to come up with a realistic behavioural plan to aid you and your dog.

Sessions

We offer 1-to-1 sessions during which we will focus on just you and your dog for whatever behaviour modification or training help you need. All sessions will be fully panned to ensure their effectiveness and suitability for each dog. We will also focus on basic obedience commands like implied “sit” and “down” and to look to the owner for guidance and direction whilst also working under peripheral distractions. Our approach will differ from dog to dog depending on whether you require training or Behavioural modifications. In either case we will be constantly available to guide you through the process and we will be on-hand to call, text or email if needed.

Puppy Training

Have you just picked up your little furry friend? We can offer 1-to-1 puppy training sessions where we cover the basic training needs for your individual puppy. This is based on the breed you have as we believe it is vital to ensure each breed is encouraged to fulfil their natural instincts and to give them the best start in their new homes. We will guide you through their puppyhood and the important stages they go through as they mature through adolescence and into dogs. These sessions will include basic commands such as “sit” and “stay” and will include loose lead walking, and on to toilet training, nutrition, grooming needs and the all-important socialisation.

Why Chose Born2Lead

At Born2Lead we pride ourselves in the way we train. We use all four quadrants of operant conditioning:

Positive Reinforcement

Adding an incentive to show a repeated behaviour or result.

Example:

Providing a treat if the correct response to a command is demonstrated

Negative Reinforcement

Taking something away to show a repeated behaviour or result.

Example

When using an E-Collar, removing the stimulus when a correct response is demonstrated.

Positive Punishment

Adding a punishment to prevent undesired behaviour from continuing.

Example

A correction on a slip lead if a dog pulls repeatedly.

Negative Punishment

Taking Something away to promote the desired behaviour.

Example

Removing your attention if a dog continually jumps up.

We truly believe a dog must understand right from wrong. By using operant conditioning, we can reward the dog for the positive behaviours they display, and correct the behaviours we don’t want to see.

We will also guide you, the owner, to become a calm, consistent leader. Without a leader dogs can become fearful and anxious. We will create a personalised training plan for your dog and will guide you through the entire process.
